I’ve been waiting a very very long time to be able to share these photos with you! I’m so excited that I can finally post them!
Tamika was an absolute dream to photograph. Not only is she stunning but she really knew how to work it for the camera as well! This girl could easily be a model – no doubt about it. Tamika’s mum Sherie came along for the photoshoot and we enjoyed the most lovely time with the two of them.
Tamika had her formal tonight at the Cathedral Centre here in town. I’m sure that she blew everyone away with how amazing she looked.
Here are my favourites from her photoshoot.

And even though Matt was shooting video he still managed to shoot some stills. Here is my favourite shot of Matt’s from Tamika’s shoot –
It’s about time we had some more video on this blog. Here’s a short behind the scenes clip from Heath and Samara’s engagement shoot. As you’ll see in the video it was basically dark when we finished shooting – we were having such a great time that we didn’t want to stop.
If you haven’t already, make sure you check out Katie’s photos from this shoot HERE and HERE – and my video from the shoot HERE.
Last night I promised that I’d post some of Matt’s photos from Danica and Regan’s shoot … so here they are! Matt is an eager student and on our most formal recent shoots he’s been doing both video and stills. It’s so funny to look over and see him trying to juggle 3 different cameras!
Matt has obviously got the ‘eye’, you can tell that from his videos. The only thing he seems to struggle with is vertical photographs. He forgets that unlike a video camera, you can turn still cameras on the side!
Given that this is only Matt’s 3rd or 4th ‘real’ shoot with a still camera (apart from photographing the cats around the house) I think I’ve created a monster!
Leave lots of comments and let us know what you think … Should I keep him?
As I mentioned in Danica’s original post, the weather was horrible on the day of her shoot. So, when she had her second hair trial we organised to photograph her again. This time her boyfriend Regan came along for the shoot which made for some super-cute couple shots!
Danica and Regan scouted out a couple of awesome locations for their shoot and we were stoked with their choices.
If you’ve been following Formal Week you’ll know that Matt made his photography debut this week on the blog! I’ve been training Matt in photography and he did so well on this shoot (in between shooting video) that I’m going to let him have his very own post tomorrow with his best photos from this shoot.
Last night, I had the pleasure of going along to the Christian Outreach Collage Formal to see all the Year 12 students arriving in their hotted-up cars and beautiful dresses. When Raquelle stepped out of her car, I kid you not, the audience around me gasped…. The girls behind me were saying comments like “Look at the dress, wow!” and “Oh my goodness she looks stunning!”. They were right, she did.
I photographed Raquelle a few weeks a go now. In my head I had this idea to photograph her on a red couch in a field of purple flowers. Crazy, I know.
Matt and I jumped in the car and went searching for a purple field of flowers. We looked and looked, drove and drove and didn’t find anything – so we kept driving. We actually drove for about 2 hours. As you can imagine we started to get a little tired and cranky and finally decided that we should give up. To my disappointment we turned around and headed home.
You wouldn’t believe it, as we drove back into Toowoomba I saw in the distance a patch of purple. I had found my purple field! And I was so excited!
Raquelle was super fun to photograph – she looked stunning. Here are some photos from our shoot, let me know what you think by leaving a comment!

P.S. Keep an eye out for Matt’s shot!
First we took some shots downtown –
Then we went to the purple field -
It got a little windy which made for some good shots –
Matt’s shot –
My favourite shot of the day – I just love her expression!
Queensland has been getting some pretty crazy storms over the last few days, apparently the biggest storms to hit us over the last 30 years. The damage bill is now estimated to be around the $500 million mark.
So, with this in mind I can’t complain very much at all about the weather affecting our formal shoot with Kate.
Monday was the day the first big storm hit, which happened to be the same day we had booked Kate in for her formal photoshoot! So we had to improvise. We had to find locations in Toowoomba that were undercover and unfortunately Kate wasn’t able to wear her real formal dress. It wouldn’t have been the smartest idea to wear it … luckily she had another formal dress she didn’t mind getting a little wet!
Kate is stunning, so you can imagine that I was a little disappointed with the weather and that we didn’t get to photograph her in her actual formal dress. We’re planning a re-shoot with Kate when she comes back from schoolies! Hopefully the weather will be a little nicer!
Even with the storms we still got some gorgeous shots!
I’m excited to announce that this is Matt’s photography debut! I’ve been teaching Matt some photography skills so he can second shoot with me at weddings (when he is not doing video of course!). Matt came along as my second shooter for Bec’s photoshoot and I think he is a natural… though, he [...]
Friends of Genevieve will know that she is OBSESSED with the colour purple. So, it wouldn’t have been right if she turned up to her formal in any other colour!
When we first met I asked her to describe herself and she said “Princess”. She asked if we could go to some ‘pretty’ locations for her shoot. Of course we could! The location I chose had a perfect combination of a ‘pretty’ one side of the road (for Genevieve) and ‘grungy’ on the other side of the road (for me).
I found it quiet amusing when Genevieve came to view the photos… she loved the grungy ones! She even chose a grungy photo to blow up for her wall!
Genevieve is entering her formal just now as I post this! Genevieve, I hope you have a seriously fun night! All the best for Uni next year!
