You may remember Heath and Samara’s epic engagement shoot from a few months ago.
In preparing for Heath and Samara’s wedding, Katie and I were worried that we wouldn’t be able to top the photos and video from their engagement shoot.
On the day of the wedding, a menacing storm stalked us the entire day and when it came time for the photo session we needed to decide whether to stay safely indoors or press on to the chosen location (about 25 minutes drive).
It was a gamble either way. Do we stay or do we go? With a gorgeous couple waiting and a storm at our heels, we requested divine providence and went for it.
For Katie and I to take credit for what happened next would be, in my opinion, quite presumptuous.
The resulting images are ones that couldn’t have been staged, captured or recreated at any other moment in time. Heath and Samara’s moment.
Here is a sneak peek from Heath and Samara’s wedding on Sunday!
Samara looked absolutely stunning and Heath was certainly a handsome groom. The ceremony was full of emotion and laughter.
All afternoon we were stalked by a massive storm. Luckily enough we completed the photo session with literally minutes to spare. [...]
2008 has was a very exciting year for us. Who knew you could achieve so much in a year!
Katie’s child and maternity photography business, Katie Finn Photography, started the year busy as ever. Matt kicked off the year concentrating mainly on his corporate video work and TV commercials.
In early May we came up with an idea – to join forces and start “Shadowplay Photography and Video”.
So, in June we officially launched Shadowplay with a shindig at our studio. Since then it’s just been crazy!!!! We’ve had an awesome first 6 months with Shadowplay – photographing gorgeous couples, beautiful brides and lots of formal girls! We can’t wait to see where the future takes us!
Next year we plan to continue growing Shadowplay Photography and Video. We’ve got some wonderful weddings booked in for 2009 and we’ll also be heading over to America and Europe in April/May/June (which we are very excited about!!)
Again, we’d like to thank those who check out our blog regularly – it’s been really fun getting your comments and sharing our work with you!
Have a great New Year’s Eve, we’ll see you again in 2009!
Here are some of our favourite photos from 2008.
Matt and Katie [Shadowplay]
We had a ‘crazy booth’ at the launch of Shadowplay – here are some of the shots.
A couple of days before Christmas I managed to sneak away to Brisbane to purchase Katie’s present. For about 2 years Katie has been dreaming of getting this lens so the photographers out there will certainly relate to Katie’s reaction upon opening this present.
Here’s a short clip of Katie opening the present :)
I’m not much of a writer, but I sure love to read. Most of all I love words. The way they sound, the way they look, how they work in different combinations, their multitude of meanings. I guess I owe this love to the primary school I attended. At the time I didn’t appreciate the daily spelling and comprehension tests, and the staying back at lunchtime to write out the words I got wrong 20 times each.
Looking back I’m thankful for the high value placed on words by my teachers and the school I attended. Not that it really helped my marks in high school given that I spent most of my time in class reading novels instead of paying attention. Is that ironic? I think so.
Anyway, here’s a list of my favourite blogs of 2008. The writers of these blogs have consistently inspired, educated & entertained me throughout the year.
I’m always looking for new blogs to check out so let me know in the comments some of your favourites.
Last Sunday we photographed Damian and Bec in Ballandean. We had such a great time with them and loved every minute of their engagement shoot. We found a great field of yellow flowers, photographed in a beautiful vineyard and even got some shots in front of pyramid…. yes, a pyramid!
Matt and I love the photos so much from this shoot that we’ve decided to share their gallery with you as a slideshow!
* Thanks to Damian and Bec for a great day. It was lovely to catch up with you again. Both Matt and I are really looking forward to sharing in and capturing your wedding day!
It’s really interesting having Matt as a second shooter. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts Matt is doing more photography. Our styles are quite different yet when you look at all the shots as a whole they seem to blend well together. Or is it just me thinking that? I’ll post some photos from both of us so you can see what I mean!
The weather has been quite unpredictable lately. Our engagement shoot with Damain and Bec was originally scheduled for a couple of weeks ago but it had to be postponed due to crazy winds and wild weather. So, we were excited when we finally got to meet up with them this past Sunday in Ballandean. Storms were still predicted but we all decided to give it a shot anyway.
Ballandean was a great meeting point between their home town of Glen Innes and our place in Toowoomba. It’s a beautiful little town with some lovely vineyards.
The weather was dark and brooding to start off with, but as the shoot went on the heavens really put on a show with some breathtaking skies.
Here’s a sneak peak from the shoot. There are many more great shots to come.
