Rainee – Formal Shoot

By Katie [Shadowplay]

Congratulations to all the grade 12 students who have just finished their QCS! That must be a great feeling!

For those who don’t know… QCS is a big exam that all grade 12’s in Queensland have to sit at the end of their final year. Every grade 12 student in the state has to sit in a silent room over 2 days, as they complete 4 exams…. a writing task, a short response, and 2 multiple choice exams.

It feels like forever since I sat my QCS, but I remember it being a relief when it was over and feeling excited because I knew that my formal was just around the corner!

Rainee (below) just finished her QCS yesterday, but her school had their formal at the start of the year (bit strange I know). However, Rainee was more than excited to jump back in her dress again to do a fun formal photoshoot with us.

[For the American and Canadian followers of our blog - the "formal" here is the same as the "prom" over there...]

Rainee got her hair and makeup professionally done again…. she looked just stunning. Her dress was funky black and her shoes were so cute! They have little black bows – you’ll be able to see them better in Matt’s video…. (I’ll get him to post the video soon!).

Anyways, less talk and more photos! Here they are -

Rainee is scared of heights – not that you can tell!

I love the texture of this wall…

Isn’t she gorgeous?

Toowoomba has some cool grungy locations…

Her eyeshadow matched the background… Cool huh?

These are wonderful! She is absolutely gorgeous and you all did a beautiful job capturing her beauty. I love the grunge-formal shots!

That blue wall and blue dress make a pretty incredible combo! Great shoot. :) Thanks also for the blog love!!

I would love to know how you exposed the second shot. I think the contrast is really great. Great series!

Rainee was standing on a ledge above me with the sky in the background. I shot on manual and over exposed the image to blow out the sky but still keep her and her dress exposed correctly.

I love the 3rd and the last shot. How do you get the colours so vibrant and saturated, but get such perfect, natural skintone? I’ve tried a number of ways, but the skin never looks right.

Thanks,
Nick

I love that shot on the wall, its like a studio shot but outside. Awesome!

Beautiful!
I love these!
Amazed you got her to lie down on the road in her dress….
lovely!
