Alex – Formal Shoot/Trash the Dress

By Katie [Shadowplay]

Earlier this year Edwina spent a week with me doing work experience…. I’m usually a bit hesitant to take on work experience kids because I remember my work experience was pretty boring. Photography often isn’t as glamourous as it looks.

Anyway, Edwina and I had heaps of fun together! The best part of work experience (for both of us) was when her sister (Alex) came up from Brisbane and agreed to jump back in her formal dress to do a shoot.

During the week, I had also mentioned to Edwina how much I felt like doing another Trash The Dress Shoot. So, I was blown away and totally surprised when her sister Alex turned up to our photoshoot with a wedding dress to trash! A BIG, *fluffy*, scary 80s wedding dress that she had bought from an OP shop just for the shoot! With a few modifications by Alex and Edwina’s mum the dress was good to go.

So yes, I learned that Alex was just like her sister Edwina, a whole lot of fun…. BUT possibly a little more crazy…. I say this in a nice way of course!!! You’d have to be crazy to jump into a freezing cold pool in the middle of winter… But Alex has no problem with suffering for the art of cool images – so she has my respect! 100%!

Here are some photos from the formal/TTD shoot we did with Alex. The shoot was just for fun – but man, IT WAS FUN!!!!

Katie.

What a gorgeous smile…

Was it all worth it? Heck yes!

I can’t put into words how cold the water was….

That black and white reflection photo is beautiful! Great job on the shot and great job on the conversion.

I love the all!
My fave has to be of her laying down in black and white! What a stunning photo!

Great shoot and beautiful location – mind revealing where it was? I’m planning to do a TTD myself soon!

These TTD photos were taken in Alex’s backyard! They have the most beautiful lagoon style pool.
